Red Sky at Night....

The sky was on fire tonight as the sun went down. Maybe we will have a good day tomorrow.

We seem to get some lovely sunrises and sunsets in the winter time.

Who Lives Here?

Animal HolesI have found a lot of holes in the lawn. There must be about 20 of them. They are roughly egg-sized.

I am wondering what lives here and suspect that it must be field voles. If anyone can confirm, I would be very grateful.

I also took a photo (not a very good one) inside one of the holes and it shows droppings which may be useful for the ID.

Redwing Visitors

A flock of redwings passed through today. There must have been at least 30 of them, but very difficult to spot amongst the leaf litter.

Footprints in the snow

One of our rare snowfalls has caused chaos in the region. Rather than venturing out amongst the panicky motorists, I prefer to stay in the garden and try to identify what is out and about in the snow. I can recognise some of these tracks but would appreciate some help.

I believe these are pheasant tracks.
